my memoirs: unclassified

what a load of cock - art babble

I didn't make a note of the show being referred to, nor when it was, I'm afraid, but this is what the artist had to say about it.

“In this sense, the aim for the show is to attempt to re-contextualise so-called 'untouchable' religious themes in order to reposition them as distinctly human stories to be read and interpreted as such. The idea is in no way to denigrate such powerful symbols, but to reignite them as potent symbolic narratives for a contemporary audience, as pictures of despair and also of love and hope.”

Consider these two statements taken from the above

“ … reposition them as distinctly human stories … ”

and

“ … reignite them as potent symbolic narratives … ”

Come on, make up your feckin’ mind: are they “distinctly human stories” or “potent symbolic narratives”?

Or did you say this simply because it sounds so wonderfully intellectual?
